Why I said yes!

I resisted getting involved because of the nature of politics and I witnessed firsthand what my father went through and I hated seeing him take so many shots but he kept fighting; fighting to leave us something special. It’s because of him and all of you that I can no longer sit by while the community so many legacy families worked so hard for, so that future generations would be able to look around and realize they have something special, something that deserves protecting that commanded me to run.
When my wife asked me why I was doing this I told her that after everything these legacy families sacrificed, it’s the least I can do. Off the top of my head, here’s some of the people I think of as Legacy families.
The Acra Families, The Adams, The Back Families, Mr. & Mrs. Paul Bennett, The Bybees, Gail Chuck, Mike & Betty Cookendorfer, The Doles, The Evans, The Fohl & Verkley Families, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Gibson, Warren Hauck, Jim & Brenda Jackson, Bob & Kathy Johnson, Tom & Diane Kammerer, Ron & Judy Kercheval, Many Kinnett Families, Kendrick, The Kuhlmann Families, Joe Hawk, Bob Kuntz, Mr. & Mrs. Paul Kaeser, The Lake Family, The Masons, The Monroes, The Lawhorn’s, Gail & Bob Loos, Many Losekamp families, Mr. & Mrs. Richard Martin, Mr. & Mrs. Ron McAdams, Mr & Mrs Ralph McClure, Candy & Bob McClure, Many Miller families, The Minges, The Nixons, Richard & Kathy Nocks, Jack & Tina Phillips, Many Radcliffe’s, Many Rolfes Families, Roudebush, Rupp, Noller, The Sanderson’s, Schlemmer, Searcy, Siefferman, The Jerry & Walter Schunk Families, Marge & Frank Sims family, Shirley Lausch-Smith, Tom & Lester Stone families, The Teeters, Brenda Walters, The Wilson’s, The Wiwi Families, That’s all for now but I’ll add others as I think of them.
While many have passed they aren’t forgotten. Then of course there’s the many organizations that have given for over a century to Harrison. The Local Masonic Lodge, The Harrison Odd Fellows, The KofC, The VFW, The American Legion, The sad thing is I’m probably forgetting dozens of family names and organizations that deserve recognition.
Looking at my list I’m reminded of the old adage; “it takes a village to raise a child” only our child is the place we call home. We just have to be better stewards of it.
